SUE STOCKDALE

Sue Stockdale is a unique mixture of an international business expert, a successful business woman and a record breaking explorer. Embracing not only the world of business but also sport, adventure and extreme polar expedition. Unlike other explorers who can only draw parallels with business themes, Sue really knows what she is talking about and can target particular problem areas.

Her book has just been published, ‘Kick Start Your Motivation’ which aims to challenge readers to achieve their goals and to help entreprenuers to understand the factors that effect motivation and improve performance. She holds a Masters Degree in Quality Management and Improvement, is the first British woman to walk to the Magnetic North Pole and is finishing studying for an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Business Venturing.

As a child, Sue was inspired by the adventures of Edmund Hillary, Ernest Shackleton and Chey Blythe. Years later she was outraged to read an advertisement for a place on an expedition, which read "Are You Man Enough?", so determined was she to prove that a woman was just as capable of being an explorer that she sailed through the gruelling rounds of tests, designed to narrow the field of applicants down. The former cross country runner took psychological tests, survived army assault courses and walked 28 miles to raise the £15,000 expedition costs to win her place on the expedition.

She survived temperatures of –40C and pulled 60lbs of equipment for twelve hours a day to reach the North Pole. Prior to becoming The First British Woman to Walk to the Magnetic North Pole, Sue had spent three months in Kenya with Operation Raleigh and a year in the former Yugoslavia (which was totally war torn) with the United Nations. Since 1996, she has been part of many international expeditions and the most recent one was a 350 mile trek across the Greenlandic Icecap. Sue’s talent at pulling together teams was really put to the test with four team members, all from different countries, non of whom had ever met before the actual expedition.

"You must transform the belief you can do it into action. Whatever your ambition - the challenge is to make it happen to the best of your ability and you cannot do that by remaining passive." It was this philosophy that secured her a place in Scotland’s Athletics Team.

Sue’s presentations and workshops are all tailored for each individual client, who have all benefited from her fun-filled interactive methods involving practical exercises to reinforce learning. She offers a unique and inspiring way for individuals and organisations to achieve personal and corporate goals.
